Christopher Brent Wood (born September 19, 1995), known professionally as Brent Faiyaz, is a highly influential American singer, songwriter, and producer at the forefront of the alternative R&B and R&B music scene. Hailing from Columbia, Maryland, Faiyaz began his career independently on SoundCloud before gaining mainstream recognition in 2016 for his standout feature on GoldLink's Grammy-nominated, triple-platinum single "Crew." In the same year, he formed the popular R&B trio Sonder with producers Atu and Dpat. Known for his distinctive smooth crooning, raw vulnerability, and often "toxic" lyrical themes that resonate deeply with Gen Z audiences, Faiyaz has built a massive cult following. His solo work, including the successful albums Sonder Son (2017) and Wasteland (2022)—which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200—showcases his storytelling and ability to blend traditional R&B with moody, atmospheric production.
